Title: How to Set Up Permanent Real°Pac Envelopes in Word
Keywords: Print, Word, Envelopes
Scope: All sites running Microsoft Word, Any Version
Release: All
Description: User needs to have envelopes printed automatically with one or more letters generated by
Real°Pac.
How-To:
  1. At the end of the page that contains the last page of text in your letter, pull down the INSERT menu in Word and pick BREAK ...
  2. Choose under SECTION BREAKS "Next Page" and click OK.
  3. Now, PASTE the Envelope Page that is provided, here.
  4. Replace the Real°Pac Key placeholders with those that you need, by hilighting the lines in the addressee block accordingly. Be sure to not hilight the PARAGRAPH SIGNS, as they contain embedded formatting information for the text. Only hilight the "data" (text and/or keys), and paste them, one line at a time, into the template Envelope area you are creating.
  5. Now, you are almost done! We need to finish verifying and/or formatting the envelope area. Place your cursor at the TOP of the new envelope page, and then pull down the FILE menu, and choose PAGE SETUP.
  6. IMPORTANT: There should be now TWO SECTIONS in this document. All formatting instructions that follow should have the scope of either "This Section" (Word 2000 and XP) or "From This Point Forward" (Word 97 and earlier)! This is why it is very, very important that your text cursor (I-beam) be at the very top and beginning of the NEW section where your envelope(s) reside(s).

For MARGINS, set up the following:

    Top

    1.65"

    Bottom

    0.3"

    Left

    1.35"

    Right

    0.3"

    Gutter

    0"

    Header:

    0.29"

    Footer:

    0.5"

Then click on the PAPER SIZE tab, and set up the following:

    Paper Size:

    Orientation:

    Envelope #10
(this should automatically default you to 9.5" x 4.3")
    Landscape

  7. Finally, click on the PAPER SOURCE tab, and choose the desired output tray for your envelopes. This is typically the "upper tray" in dual-sheet feed Laser printers. If you do not see such an option, then choose MF (or Manual Feed). Finally, choose OK, and then File, Save your changes to the Real°Pac document template you've just been working on.
  8. Try printing an envelope. Slight adjustments may be needed, depending on your actual printer and the font(s) used.
  9. Refer to the document provided showing how envelopes are fed, for instructions on the correct placement of your printer's Multi-Purpose tray. Many times when envelopes print blank, it is because the top margin of the document page storing the envelope does not match the relative position of the top edge of the envelope as it is fed into the printer.
