| Title: | Removing Real°Pac Office Version 3's Client from a Windows Computer | |
| Keywords: | Version 3, Removal, Deinstallation | |
| Scope: | All users needing to un-install Real°Pac Office from a CLIENT computer | |
| Release: | Versions 1 thru 3 | |
| Description: | How to remove Real°Pac's client icons, DLLs and folders from a computer. | |
| Instructions: | After verifying and confirming that
removal of the Client IS the correct action to take, perform the following steps: 1) Quit out of Real°Pac on the client computer that is to be worked on. 2) Explore the computer's C:\ (root) folder. Look for a folder called RP_WUSER. If you do find this folder, then delete it. To remove it permanently (and not store it in your Recycle Bin), hold down the DELETE key as you right-mouse click the folder's icon and pick Delete off the context-sensitive Edit menu. 3) Now, explore the computer's C:\WINDOWS folder (on Windows 2000 the folder may be called C:\WINNT). Look for, and delete the following two tiles: REALPAC.INI and REALPAC.LIC. 4) Now, explore the computer's C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder (on Windows 2000 the folder may be called C:\WINNT\SYSTEM). Look for, all the DLL files that start with the two letters "UC", and delete them. 5) Remove from the Desktop the Real°Pac shortcut (icon), and from your Start | Programs menu folder, the Real°Pac Office folder. |
|
| Notes: | Removal of any files from both your
C:\WINDOWS and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder require your local security to be set up
in such a way that it allows you delete rights or access. Typically this means
that your logon type has to be either a 'power user' or 'administrator' for your
own machine (or the machine being worked on). If you get an "access denied" error
message from Windows when attempting to remove files, then this means that your
current logon does not have sufficient access rights for deleting files. |
