| Title: | Word (all versions) does not Print - sits Idle | |
| Keywords: | Microsoft Word, Printing, Idle, Blank Document, Empty Document, Document1 | |
| Scope: | All Sites running any Microsoft Office product and Real°Pac | |
| Release: | All | |
| Description: | Real°Pac goes through all the motions to print the document, and Word is even launched and/or (re)activated. However, once Word is visible (has the focus), everything stops. Word stands still, with an empty document screen. | |
| Resolution: | Check pulldown menu, Real°Pac|About Real°Pac Word Wizard; verify that "Recognized Real°Pac Applet Path" shown is correct; it may be blank or point to an outdated path; correct path in WIN.INI on user's "Windows Root" directory (c:\Windows or c:\Winnt), edit or create an entry under section [Real°Pac], entry SWarePath={path to enter}, where {path to enter} is the correct path found under the Real°Pac's main desktop pull-down menu entry, Help|About Real°Pac, item "Software path". Save change to WIN.INI. Quit and restart Word. Try again. If it still persists, then check in your site.ini file (e.g., 12345.ini), under the [Nodes] section, for a Key (entry) "RemoteControl". Make sure it equals the word "on". If it does not (or the Key is blank), make this edit, save the .ini file, exit Real°Pac, then go back in. Word should now respond properly. Note: Pressing ALT + U will always "engage" the RealPacPrintJob macro into action, even in situations when the automation is not working. This is mentioned as a "last resort" to get around the problem, should the steps outlined here not resolve the problem. | |
